This law was officially explained as a measure to reduce the percentage of smoking among young people. Rather, it was the measure to prevent the illegal sale of tobacco products.
The seller may require documents from the buyer to confirm his age. In Hungary, under no circumstances should cigarettes be sold to minors. In institutions that are engaged in the sale of tobacco products, it is forbidden to post ads. To enter the tobacco shop can only be those who are 18 years old. For violation of the law in Hungary, a fine of 70 to 200 euros is imposed.
